Admission on Motion without Examination

On December 12, 2002, the Supreme Court of Georgia entered an order adopting “Admission on Motion without Examination” effective January 1, 2003.

You should review Part C of the Rules Governing Admission to the Practice of Law in Georgia to determine whether you may be eligible for admission on motion.

In order to determine which United States jurisdictions have comity for bar admissions purposes with the State of Georgia, you should review the “Admission on Motion” chart on the National Conference of Bar Examiners’ website as follows:

  • review the “Admission on Motion” chart

If there is any question as to whether the rules of a jurisdiction provide for admission on motion, you should contact that jurisdiction.


NOTE: Although the Rules state that the motion petition be filed once certification of fitness has been issued; a new policy has been established which requires that the Application for Certification of Fitness to Practice Law and the Petition for Admission on Motion without Examination be filed simultaneously.
